Self Working & Easy Card Magic - Part 1

Each of these 10 effects below is easy to perform, which makes it perfect for the complete beginner. However, it doesn't mean they are less impressive for the public. On the contrary - some routines like 'Turnover Card Mystery' are still in my professional repertoire today. Remember that effect on the audience is what is most important - and the best methods are usually simple.

Each of the routines has been specially selected for maximum impact, simplicity, and ease of learning.
I suggest that you look at them in the sequence suggested, as they are progressive, and I sometimes refer back to previous learned principles and methods.

Precognition

Difficulty level: 1

This effect uses a self-working force sometimes known as the 10-20 force. It requires no sleight of hand, and minimal set up, so is a great one for the beginner to start their training with.

Impossible catch

Difficulty level: 1

Two cards returned to the deck are impossibly pulled out from the centre in an instant.

Queens Surprise

Difficulty level: 1

With the audience's assistance, two queens magically find their partners in the deck.

Card box prediction

Difficulty level: 1

The card the audience is thinking of is found to be in the card box.

This effect uses the Criss Cut Force.

Picnic Aces

Difficulty level: 1

The audience magically finds the four aces.

The Jacks Burglary

Difficulty level: 1

A story trick in which four jacks lost in the deck return suddenly to the top when called.

Basic Key Card Trick 

Difficulty level: 1

The magician finds the audience's card, despite it looking like they won't.

This effect uses the 'Key Card' principle.

Difficulty level: 2

Both magician and audience manage to select the same card under seemingly impossible conditions.

Key Card Trick - using a mark 

Difficulty level: 1

The magician finds the selected card whilst all the cards are face down.

This is another application of the Key Card principle.

The Wrong Prediction

The magician's prediction seems to be wrong, but then turns out right.

This effect uses the Criss Cut Force.
